5 Reasons Why We Love WordPress
Here in the content team we make use of a wide range of content management systems to upload news articles onto websites. We’re a multi-talented bunch and can turn our hands to Magento, Drupal and Joomla, but there’s one CMS that has stolen our hearts and is the favourite by far.
When software works well it can be easy to take it for granted, but after spending a frustrating hour doing battle with an alternative program (which shall remain nameless) I’m feeling extra appreciative of this software right now. So here are just a few of the reasons why – around these parts – we really do love WordPress.
It’s Easy to Use
With a straightforward layout and common sense menus, anybody can learn the basics of WordPress in no time at all. Obviously it’s nice that this makes our work a little easier, but it also gives our clients the opportunity to get involved and play a really active role in the content that appears on their sites.
It’s Google Friendly
In the world of SEO we’ll do whatever we can to make life easier for the bots, and if anybody loves WordPress even more than we do, it’s Google. WordPress websites are clean and well organised, paving the way for regular caching that makes sure Google sees your fresh content quickly and ranks you accordingly.
With more and more people using smart phones and tablets to access the internet, it’s vital for your website to be compatible with a range of mobile devices. And guess what – WordPress is fully loaded with mobile optimisation tools so that it looks just as good on a tiny screen in your palm as it does on a desktop.
It Makes Things Pretty
From a user’s point of view, images really do make a lot of difference to a news feed. WordPress allows you to add images to articles without a fuss and without throwing out the formatting, so you can easily add colour and interest that will help to engage your readers and entice them into that all important click-through.
You Can Pimp It Up
If the basic set-up of WordPress seems to be lacking something you had your heart set on, never fear! There are a whole host of plugins and add-ons that allow you to add pretty much any new feature that you could dream up. Just like downloading an app for your smart phone, plugins help to personalise the functionality of your site and makes all of your website dreams come true.
So when it comes to CMS, it seems to us that WordPress is the obvious choice. Why not give it a try and see how much of a boost it could give to your web design and your SEO campaign in one. You might just find that you never look back…
