Building Your Brand Awareness And Building Relationships
After reading some great blogs over the last few days I decided that today I am going to write about helping out the average business, or in other words, the businesses which aren’t an international brand. There are several ways to get your brand out there, but which is the best? Should you stick to one way or use multiple resources? Well one things for sure, SEO is not purely down to building hundreds of links any more.
My first point is about something that Matt Barby wrote about a couple of days ago, and I definitely think its important, you need engaging content, something to grab peoples attention, but I know what your all thinking, “what’s the point making viral content if nobody sees it?” This is where my next point comes in: building relationships! You need to engage with people who are also interested in your industry like bloggers. Don’t go straight for your industry leader, they won’t be that bothered about sharing your content, you need to build relationships with bloggers and people who don’t have a huge following, these are the type of people who are interested in your industry, have a look at the sort of things they tweet and +1, comment on what they write, this is how you build relationships, this is how you get them to share content, and how you’ll get your brand out to more people. But remember, make sure your content is as good as can be, if you read it and wonder if somebody would benefit from sharing it, its not good enough, make sure when you write it you think ‘damn, that is some awesome content, everybody will love this!’
Another great blog I read last week was from Rand Fishkin over at SEOmoz, it was about Co-Citation. He went on about getting other websites to page 1 of Google, not just your own. I don’t mean your competitors, I mean anything to do with your website and company. Has a blogger spoke about your brand and gave you a positive review? If so, think about building links to it, this will get you more coverage on page 1 of Google, and it will be positive coverage.
These are just a few brief points on helping to increase your brand awareness and helping to get your content shared. Us usual, if you have any questions or points you’d like to share, leave a comment below and I’ll get back to you.
